Surrounded by mountains & rolling hills, Douglas Lake, 43.1 miles long, covering 30,400 acres, a 555 miles shoreline & a maximum depth of 140 feet, was created in 1943 by the impounding of the French Broad River. The Nolichucky and Pigeon Rivers are the main tributaries feeding the lake. The lake is extremely picturesque with numerous small inlet creeks,17 islands, 6 bridges, & is served by 10 marinas, 24 boat ramps, and 6 bridges. Largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, & catfish are the most popular game fish for Douglas Lake anglers. Sauger, walleye, & white bass also provide excellent fishing opportunities when they make their late-winter spawning runs to the headwaters. National Fishing & Boating Week occur each year during early June. The lake water level can fluctuate especially during the winter months due to HEP demand (highest in January) controlled by the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Your exclusive lakeside facilities at the Lake House are accessed from the driveway close to the house via a private stairway illuminated at night by strip lighting. These include a 256 square feet deck overlooking the lake with an adjacent seating area. Another illuminated stairway leads from the deck down to the lake and access to a private and exclusive 24ft x 4ft floating boat dock. A short nature pathway located just a few yards from the house also provides access through the trees to the seating area, deck, and boat dock. There is another pathway from the driveway leading to a small boat dock for exclusive use by guests who are kayak/canoe enthusiasts. The facility of a community boat ramp located in the inlet adjacent to the house is available free of charge for guests who bring their own boat.
Boats and equipment can be rented from marinas on Douglas Lake. These include large Pontoon Boats ideal for families, various towables including Waverunners, Sea Doos, and Jet Skis.
Douglas Lake is a renowned fishing destination for anglers, and many large fish have been caught by guests casting off the boat deck.
Please note the lake water level can fluctuate during the winter months especially in January due to high HEP demand. It is controlled by the Tennessee Valley Authority.
International flights from worldwide locations including Europe, South America, the Caribbean, Canada, China, Japan, Africa, and the Far East are available to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, and internal fights go into McGhee Tyson Airport at Knoxville. Alternatively there are excellent road services using the Interstate and County road systems.
The nearest travel links are McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville and it is essential to have a car from there.
The house rules are as follows:-
- Strictly no smoking inside the home or on the decks.
- No diving permitted from boat deck or dock for safety reasons.
- Please do not use any glassware at the lakeside deck, seating area, & boat dock to avoid unnecessary accidents – please only use the non-breakable items supplied & available in the kitchen.
- Please clean the grill in the outdoor kitchen after use.
- Please clean the BBQ & Smoker after use.
- Please leave your shoes at the door as the grit on them will ruin the hardwood floors and dirty the new light colored carpets.
- No pets allowed.
- The owner reserves the right to charge an additional cleaning fee in the event the house is left in an unacceptable condition.
- Please do not leave any food or garbage bags outside as this is bear country. Please take all garbage bags to the enclosed fenced garbage area provided on the right just prior to leaving Douglas Lake Resort.
- Please note fireworks are STRICTLY prohibited within Douglas Lake Resort due to risks of fires.
Check-in time is 16:00 and Check-out time is 11:00.
Parties/Events are allowed and children are welcome.
100% refund less an administration charge of $250 will be made for cancellations advised by email received & acknowledged more than 60 days before check-in date.
50% refund will be made for cancellations advised by email received & acknowledged more than 40 days made by email before check-in date.
Any refunds applicable will be made within 7 days of receipt of payment instructions.
